            <title>Bailey Funeral Today</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><font color="#000000">The funeral for Toby Bailey takes place today: he's the 20 year-old who was shot, apparently accidentally, late last week in the Bethel Midtown Village in Athens: an 18 year-old friend is facing charges in the case. Services for Bailey are set for 2 o'clock this afternoon at the New Grove Baptist Church. <o:p></o:p></font></span></p>]]></description>

Republican Kemp--a former Athens state Senator--was appointed to the Secretary of State's office back in January, filling the unexpired term of Karen Handel, who resigned to run for Governor. Kemp is seeking the job full-time. He'll face Democrat Georganna Sinkfield in the November 2 election. <o:p></o:p></font></span></p>]]></description>

            <title>Judge Hears Arguments in Noise Case</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><font color="#000000">Clarke County Superior Court Judge Steve Jones heard arguments in an appeal of a guilty verdict in the case of a University of Georgia student convicted of violating the Athens-Clarke County noise ordinance. Judge Jones did not issue a ruling in the case after Monday's hearing. Student Ian Grady was fined $350 for violating the ordinance in April of last year, when he held a loud party at his downtown apartment. Grady's lawyer says the ordinance is unconstitutional. <o:p></o:p></font></span></p>]]></description>
